Freeride tour Kohlern

The freeride trail Kohlern is one of the classic and coolest freeride tracks in whole South Tyrol. Even if the trail isn’t officially approved as freeride track. But ideal cable car connections and very sparse hikers are turning the trail into a real freeride pleasure.

The valley station is situated only a few km northerly from Bozen, 10 minutes away from the center. There renowned cable cars bring bikers with their bikes every half an hour from 7 am to 7 pm to the summit station in Kohlern.

Arrived there at 1140 m above sea level, freeriders take turn to left into an asphalted street. After 200 m they take forest track to the left, which leads them to trail 4, the freeride trail. Locals built some kickers and stunts, the trail is very bendy and medium difficult.

Very courageous bikers can choose trail 4a, which is much more demanding and difficult. Both of the trails are ending in an asphalted street. Freeride follow it and after 100 m the trail begins again and brings you back to the valley station.
The Kohlern cable car is the eldest in world. It was built in 1908 as first cable car ever.
